The Managing Director and Chief Development Officer of Forum Real Estate Group in Denver, Colorado, Donald. D. MacKenzie has led real estate companies for nearly three decades. After graduating from Middlebury College with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Don MacKenzie accepted an offer to become a financial analyst with Paine Webber Capital Markets in New York City. In addition, Don MacKenzie spent two years as an associate with Wallace Associates Consulting Group in Salt Lake City, where he gained experience in market research, due diligence, and debt restructuring.
Don MacKenzie first entered the real estate sector as the head of development and director of acquisitions with Wellsford Residential Property Trust (WRP) in Denver. He quickly worked his way up to president and director operations with Wellsford Property Management, where he focused his efforts on property management and asset management. After WRP merged with Equity Residential Properties Trust (ERQ) in 1997, he became Senior Vice President, developing multifamily properties across the West Coast.
After two years with ERQ, Don MacKenzie founded and became the CEO of MacKenzie House, LLC, in Denver, concentrating his investment activity on rental multifamily, single family, senior housing, and condominiums. Later, he served as the Vice President of Operations with MBH Enterprises, LLC, a diversified private equity holding company with 10 subsidiary companies under management. Most recently, he served as the head of West Coast development with UDR, where he developed high-quality multifamily rental communities in California and Washington.
